Mt 24:34 — He meant it
John 3:16–18
For most of my adult life I have heard and was taught that Jesus Christ had not finished his gospel mission and that he still had to come back to finish the job. The unfinished job was judging the earth and mankind. At the end of the judgment would come destruction of the world and sinners. A vast majority of Christian churches and denominations teach a future return of Jesus Christ. They’ve been doing so for almost 2,000 years.
Jesus Christ spoke of the last days of the Jewish nation in Matthew 24. Jesus told his audience in verse 34 that there were some standing there who would still be living to see the events he had just described unfold. The Gospel Revolution is built around verse 34 because it believes Jesus at his word.
Matthew 24:34 is not symbolic, allegorical, or referring to a future generation. “This generation” means the people standing in front of Jesus. The Gospel Revolution takes him at his word.

“Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness.”
Even more: Jesus officially destroyed religion upon the destruction of Jerusalem, the Temple, and biblical Judaism in 70 AD. There is no more religious class of people, priests, or clergy. All religions across the world are empty and devoid of God’s Spirit. God now dwells with and in people — not in buildings made with hands.
Christ died to pay for Adam’s sin, wiping it out completely and removing every barrier between humanity and God the Father.
Jesus rose from the dead — and in doing so caused all of Adam and Eve’s descendants to rise. Death no longer holds anyone.
No eternal conscious torment for unbelievers. Death and Hades were the end of all people — until Christ defeated and destroyed them.
Jesus officially destroyed institutional religion in 70 AD. There is no more religious class, no priests, no clergy required between you and God.
